Israeli experience report.

Introduction

This report was written by Access Israel, a leading non-profit organization in Israel, that promotes accessibility and inclusion for people with all kinds of disabilities and the elderly. Access Israel was founded in 1999 and since its establishment, led the accessibility revolution in Israel with the goal of creating a society without borders for people with disabilities and the elderly.

Access Israel strives to achieve its goals by increasing awareness among key stakeholders, advancing accessibility laws, regulations, and standards, and implementing influential innovative projects, training programs, and consulting services.

Access Israel brings a wealth of experience in emergency accessibility. Over the years, the organization led professional roundtable discussions, provided consultancy services, developed guides and procedures, and conducted trainings on people with disabilities in emergencies.

In March 2022, in response to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the organization initiated The Purple Vest Mission. This initiative is dedicated to promoting global accessibility preparedness during times of emergency for people with disabilities and the elderly, through training, consulting, and the dissemination of life-saving information.

The report is part of the Purple Vest efforts, and is based on the Israeli legislation and on the Israeli emergency official institutes information.
